Emily is an elementary school teacher at Van Rensselaer Elementary School. She has taught 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. She has been teaching for 18 years.
Emily graduated High School from Benton Central. She was a volleyball varsity letter winner for 4 years and a basketball varsity letter winner for 3 year. After graduating Emily continued as a student athlete at Vincennes University Junior College when she received a 2 year scholarship to play basketball. She graduated with an Associates Degree in Education, but her education and her basketball career were not over. She received another scholarship to attend Cleveland State University in Cleveland, Ohio. After 3 years at Cleveland State, Emily graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education. After teaching 5 years she decided to return to college one more time for her Masters Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Early in her teaching career Emily coached middle school volleyball and basketball at South Newton JR/SR High School. Later she was asked to become assistant varsity volleyball coach and head varsity basketball coach. In 2003 Emily lead the South Newton Girls Varsity Basketball team to a 2003 Sectional win. After 2003 Emily started a new job at Rensselaer and decided that she needed to focus on being a wife and becoming a mom. Her life changed again 2 years ago when she was asked to take the head coaching position for the varsity volleyball team at Rensselaer Central High School.
Emily and her husband Jeff have 2 daughters: Taylor and Jada.
