Meet Brad McCarter

Boys Director

Brad was born and raised in Lafayette, Ind. He played four years of Varsity high school volleyball and also play four years of basketball Lafayette Jeff, where they won the 1998 Boys’ State Championship and the 1998 AAU Boys’ Open National Championship his Junior year. Upon graduation at Lafayette Jefferson, Brad went on to play at IPFW (NCAA Div. I).

He returned to Lafayette after one season with IPFW to begin coaching. Brad began his coaching career at Sunnyside Middle School at both the 7th and 8th grade levels. Brad also has coached many different age levels at Performance Point Volleyball Club, Lafayette Area Volleyball Academy(LAVA) and at The Indiana Volleyball Academy during that time.

In 2006 he took the varsity assistant coaching job at Central Catholic High School, after 2 seasons as a JV coach and Varsity Assistant, Brad took over the Knights in 2008 and in that season was named I.C.G.S.A. Class A North coach of the year. In 2010, he lead the program to their first ever volleyball State Championship and was titled the Class A State coach of the year. In 2013 Central Catholic was the Class 1A State Runner Up, Brad also received the I.C.GS.A North Coach of the Year award in 2013 & IHSVCA State Coach of the Year in 2017. In 2014 the Knight’s reached the Semi-State semi finals. Since 2014. Coach McCarter has helped the Knights to a 2015 State Runner Up and State Championships in 2017 and 2021. Brad has also helped coach at the Purdue Elite and Team summer volleyball camps for the past 10 years.

Brad and his wife, Heather, still live in Lafayette with their sons, Keegan and Drew.
